BROKEN WINS AWARD IN VANCOUVER

BROKEN has won a 2015 Rising Star Award from the Canada International Film Festival (Vancouver) It’s always rewarding to be recognized for your work and I would like to thank the festival organizers for including BROKEN with the other recipients. The festival runs in April but due to limited screen time BROKEN will not be part of the program but those in the Vancouver area will still have a chance to see BROKEN on the big screen when it plays at the CANADADROM film festival in July. Exact date and time coming soon.

UPDATES

A couple of bits of news to pass on. First off, BROKEN has been accepted to the Viewster Online Film Festival, Zurich Switzerland. The festival runs March 12 – 26 and marks the first overseas festival acceptance of any of my films. Nice. Also, the FRIGHT NIGHT festival has announced its screening time and location.

25 Dundurn Street North, Hamilton, ON
ONE SCREENING ONLY

Should be a fun night of horror shorts in Hamilton. I was also sent these nice laurels from the Shivers Film Society in Vancouver which I just felt like showing off.

SUPPORT FROM RUE MORGUE MAGAZINE

A  flattering write up for BROKEN can be found in the pages of the latest issue of Rue Morgue magazine (#152) For those who are not aware, Rue Morgue is a Toronto based publication dealing with horror in culture and entertainment. With a devoted international following Rue Morgue is widely considered one of the best and most respected sources of horror journalism in the world. Being a long time reader makes being included in their pages a somewhat surreal experience, one that you might hope for but never expect to happen. Thank you to Justin McConnell for his kind words. You can find Rue Morgue on the newsstands at any Chapters/Indigo location.

BETWEEN JOBS

I have begun the process of submitting BROKEN to film festivals. My hope is to have it selected in about a dozen festivals which should help increase the film’s profile.
When I completed The Lady of Names I spent a great deal of time dealing with its festival run which spanned 2 full years. For BROKEN I am keeping the number of entries down and am targeting festivals that are best suited for the film. I will update its status as decisions are made and will also pass on any new developments regarding the film. In the meantime work is progressing on a new film. The first skeleton has been completed and I will begin sculpting very soon. Lots more to come about that.

INTERVIEW

I was very happy to be invited to the CHCH Morning Live show in Hamilton to give the following interview on BROKEN.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Two weeks after its initial posting BROKEN should surpass 1,000 views by days end. Fitting that that day should be Halloween. It has also received extremely good reviews from FAMOUS MONSTERS, BLOODY DISGUSTING and HORROR MOVIE UNCUT and has benefitted from people sharing the link on their personal sites. I’ve had the chance to speak with many individuals and am overwhelmed by the response. More than the appreciation for the film’s technical aspects, it is the emotional reaction that has been so rewarding. It is very easy to lose ones perspective regarding a films effectiveness after such a long production period and to have so many people react on an emotional level is deeply satisfying. I want to thank everyone for their support and encouraging words and please stay tuned for future news.

COMING SOON

BROKEN is finished and will be posted on line on FRIDAY OCTOBER 17. It was not my intention but it seems only fitting that the film be ready for Halloween. I had planned to submit it to a number of film festivals but a majority of the festivals best suited for the film are happening this month or have just past and I have no intension of waiting a full year before making the film available. Besides, a year from now I'll be knee deep in my next film which I will be announcing very soon.
